Why choose titanium-coated topstitch needles
Topstitch needles are designed for enhanced thread protection and stitch quality. The eye is almost twice as long as that of a universal needle, and the groove along the shaft is deeper and wider, allowing your thread to sit securely and glide through with less friction and heat. This unique design helps reduce thread shredding, improves tension balance, and makes threading easier, especially for delicate threads.
Titanium-coated vs titanium needles
Many people say “titanium needles,” but the correct term is titanium-coated needles. A thin titanium nitride coating provides wear resistance and helps the point stay sharp longer. The result is cleaner stitch creation and definition, and fewer interruptions from skipped stitches or early dulling of the needle point. Both of these benefits are extremely useful when quilting across layers, binding, embroidery fills, and long piecing sessions.
Fits home sewing machines
Our topstitch needles fit the standard 130/705 H flat-shank system used in most home sewing machines. If your machine uses regular needles (universal, quilting, embroidery, etc.), these will work. Insert them as you would any other needle, and start sewing.
Size guide (match size to thread)
- #70/10 – very fine threads (100 wt silk, clear monofilament, 60 wt cotton or polyester).
- #80/12 – fine 50 wt cotton or polyester for piecing, quilting, garment sewing.
- #90/14 – 40 wt threads for quilting and topstitching with visible definition.
- #100/16 – heavier 30 wt and topstitching or thicker fabrics/layers.
Recommended uses
Choose topstitch needles for smooth quilting, flatter seams, and reliable topstitching. You'll appreciate how effectively they work for appliqué, embroidery, piecing, quilting, decorative stitches, and sewing. The rounded, sharp point helps prevent cutting more fabric than necessary, reducing runs and rips.
