Trilobal polyester thread is a type of filament polyester known for its distinct triangle-shaped cross-section. (tri = 3, lobal = sides). This shape reflects light more brilliantly than traditional round fibers, creating a vibrant, high-sheen look that makes your quilting, embroidery, and decorative stitching projects stand out.

Standard polyester threads are typically round and come in spun, corespun, or filament varieties. Trilobal polyester, a special type of filament with three flatter sides twisted into a round thread, is popular among quilters and embroiderers.

Elite trilobal thread works exceptionally well on home sewing machines for both quilting and decorative stitching. We recommend loosening the tension slightly and using a Topstitch #90/14 needle. This thread is naturally lint-free and made from special high-sheen trilobal polyester fibers. For the best stitching results, use Precision 60 wt. thread in the bobbin.

Precision 60 wt. polyester is the ideal bobbin thread for Elite. The ultra-fine weight stays hidden on the back while letting your brilliant Elite thread shine on top. Precision is lint-free like Elite, so your machine stays clean during long embroidery or quilting sessions. If you're doing dense embroidery or want both sides to look polished, you can use Elite in the bobbin too, though Precision is more economical for designs where only the top matters. Precision prewound bobbins hold 70% more thread than self-wound bobbins, reducing interruptions during large projects.
